Salvation
I wonder, do you worry about the future (especially as you read the newspapers and listen to the news casters on TV)?. Life is lived at such a pace these days, it is no wonder that we get confused and lapse into a worried condition. Many of us worry so much about the future.
As you and i know the future will always remain completely unknown to us. However God knows the future. Let us face it, he alone knows everything. Therefore it would be a great idea, instead of worrying, let us put our trust in our Heavenly Father. Why?, well simply because He has told us to reject anything and everything that makes us anxious or unbelieving.
The best use we can make of today, is to put our trust in His Love and His Promises, which will ensure that we are right with God, both for the time on this earth and for eternity.
The words of Proverbs ch 27 ver 1 are very applicable for such a situation, "Do Not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth".
An Australian preacher once visited a small village in the South of England, staying in a charming old fashioned cottage. He was amazed when he opened the curtains to find etched on the glass "This is the day!" On enquiring as to who had done this, he was informed it has been done by a lady simply named Old Bessie, the previous occupier. Before breakfast Old Bessie read her Bible. One morning she read Psalm 118 and was thrilled to read verse 24, "This is the day that the Lord hath made, we will be glad and rejoice in it". She searched and searched her Bible, to find out which day it referred to, but found that it was this day, today and everyday. So Bessie has those words etched on the windowpane, those 4 words that mean so much and are applicable to everyone, no matter what the weather is like.
This reminds me of a chorus we used to sing, "Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderous face, and all the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of his Glory and Grace
We can pray this prayer together.
Oh Lord, help us to take each day as it comes and not to worry about the future. But Lord, let us rather put our trust in you. Because we realise that you hold our lives in the palm of your hand. Amen.
Two lovely Psalms amongst so many that bring comfort and solace to many :- Psalm 23. "The Lord is my shepherd" and Psalm 121. "I to the hills will lift thine eyes". An elderly lady wrote to me recently, "Why quote the Bible to us and at us?." I do not have a Bible. Please friends, do not let that stop you, tell us and we will endevour to supply you with one.
Thank you and God bless you for reading this, if you are in need of further help, please do not hesitate to contact us.
